RAS FOUNDATION SUPPORTS RURAL YOUTH
ROUND EIGHT OF EDUCATION FUNDING GRANTS ANNOUNCED

Educational opportunities for students living in country towns have been significantly enhanced following the recent issuing of funding grants by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Foundation (RASF).

Funded by the RASF and independently administered the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), this eighth round of E3 educational grants has directly assisted ten rural and regional communities.

The Schools from Parkes, Eumungerie, Meadow Flat, Balranald, Goulburn, Moruya, Toormina, Stuarts Point, Binnaway and Musswellbrook have shared in funding grants totalling almost $50,000, distributed under the Foundation’s E³ Grants program.

Antonia Ruffell, RASF Executive Officer said the latest round of funding supports a variety of school and community projects.

“This current round of E³ Grants will help implement a range of programs for young people, including the replacement of books and computer software for the Eumungerie Public School, after the majority of the school was destroyed by fire in January this year.

“Other projects include the provision of tutors for a homework club, a literacy excursion, and the employment of TAFE teachers to assist in the training and implementation of a student peer literacy program,” said Ms Ruffell.

Grants Awarded;

·         Parkes High School - Peer Tutoring Program - $8248
·         Eumungerie Public School - Back from the Black - $2000
